Honey Bee
Honey bees live year round; they tend to nest in chimneys or other structural openings. Honey bees have pointed stingers and if it stings a person, it will lose the stinger and die. The average life of the honeybee is about 6 weeks in the summer and 4 months in the winter.
Bumble Bee
The Bumble bee is usually found living in nests in cavities in the ground, under sheds, or other places that are low to the ground. The Bumble bee is a seasonal insect and after summer ends, only the queen survives who will start a new colony in the spring. Bumble bees are very aggressive and can sting multiple times when defending their hive.
Carpenter Bee
The Male Carpenter bees are solid black and cannot sting, but females are tan in color and can sting. Carpenter bees are sometimes mistaken for Bumble bees. The difference is the Carpenter bees are shiny with less hair. Carpenter bees are usually burrow holes into wood patio covers, roof spaces, and other places.
